The Ter has increased its flow considerably after the last rains in Catalonia, as can be seen in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia in these images of the river passing through Manlleu, in the Osona region.
The river goes down heavily loaded, as was not seen in months of drought, on the way to the Sau reservoir, which is already on its way to reaching 25% of its capacity, when a month ago it was at 8%.
The Ter rises in Ulldeter at 2,480 meters of altitude, at the foot of a glacial cirque in the Pyrenean region of Ripollès, very close to the town of Setcases.
This river is very important in the history of the development of the towns of Osona through which it passes, especially with regard to industry, which has taken advantage of the power of its waters, now very visible, as the photographs show.
Civil Protection of the Generalitat de Catalunya has already deactivated the alert of the Inuncat plan due to the forecast of heavy rains after the episode of yesterday Tuesday.
During the last rains, the intensity thresholds were exceeded in municipalities such as Terrassa, Vacarisses, Òdena (Barcelona) and Fornells de la Selva (Girona).
The emergency telephone number received 455 calls associated with 321 incidents concentrated in the Vallès area of ??Barcelona until 10:00 p.m. The Generalitat Fire Brigade recorded 297 calls up to 11:00 p.m. and rescued people trapped in flood-prone areas, although there were no serious injuries.
With regard to the roads, the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT) interrupted traffic — already restored — on the C-16 roads as they pass through Terrassa, the B-40 in La Roca del Vallès (Barcelona) and the N- 260 in Vall de Vianya (Girona).
