The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested two men in Barcelona for the theft of 25 motorcycles in public and private parking lots in the Catalan capital, and have arrested two others in the Barcelona city of Vic for buying them at 500 euros each and then sell them for parts.

As reported this Wednesday by the Mossos d’Esquadra, the investigation, in charge of the Investigation Unit of the Sant Martí police station, began after several motorcycle thefts were detected in this district of Barcelona, ??perpetrated since last month of March.

The two thieves always used the same criminal methodology in different phases: at first, they carried out tasks of locating certain ‘enduro’-type motorcycles parked in public or private parking lots.

Once the motorcycle they wanted to steal was found, they placed a tracking device on it to find out where the owner was in the habit of parking it, either in a public street parking lot or in a closed parking space.

When they already knew where to find the motorcycle, the third phase began, which consisted of forcing access to the closed parking lot and if it was parked on the street, they would take it to a nearby parking lot so that, in both cases, they could manipulate the vehicle without being seen.

The manipulation of the motorcycle consisted of modifying the electronic control unit with a homemade device to start it up and steal it. After the motorcycle was stolen, they parked it again on the street or in public motorcycle parking lots that were not very crowded to check that the owner did not have a GPS tracking device installed.

Finally, the two thieves drove the motorcycles to Vic, where they sold them to the other two detainees in this police operation for around 500 euros to be dismantled in a workshop and resold the parts, although in some cases they sent the entire motorcycle to some country. foreign.

During the Mossos device, the agents were able to recover 9 of the 25 stolen motorcycles that were in a warehouse in Vic. After going to court, the four detainees were released with charges.
