Vox has ruled out taking legal action against the decision of the Central Electoral Board (JEC) after the new dismissal of the appeal for the recount of votes in the city of Barcelona on 28-M. Following this decision, the investiture plenary session for the new mayor of Barcelona will be held, as planned, next Saturday and not on July 7, the alternative date if the challenge had been accepted.

Vox has communicated that after the dismissal by the JEC of the second appeal presented to challenge the vote count in the city of Barcelona from the last municipal elections, “the party has ruled out taking legal action and promoting an administrative dispute.”

In this way, the party “will not delay the constitution of the City Council once the Central Electoral Board has reviewed and ratified the agreement of the Zone Electoral Board.”

The JEC has decided to dismiss the appeal in accordance with the consolidated criteria by which only those minutes of the Electoral Tables where incidents have been recorded on electoral day are reviewed, a fact that could not occur as Vox did not have enough proxies and electoral representatives .

The decision of the JEC and that of Vox not to take legal action confirms the result of the elections in Barcelona, ??which Trias per Barcelona won, with 11 seats, followed by the PSC (10), BComú (9), ERC (5) , the PP (4) and Vox (2). The dispute that led to Vox’s appeal was for a seat at stake between this formation and the PSC
