The business world is constantly adapting due to technological advances and the profound changes that are taking place in the economy, society and politics. Organizations demand versatile professionals, with a 360º profile, accustomed to technological language and with an excellent knowledge of the reality that surrounds them. It is necessary for students to acquire up-to-date knowledge and relevant skills for the business world and be prepared to adapt to the new times, which is why universities play a fundamental role in the development of professionals in this area who are capable of leading the future and have a strategic vision.
An example of this is the Universidad Europea, which has an academic model focused on experiential learning in all degrees in the Business area, driven by three axes: increasing proximity to companies, digital learning and experimentation, and the internationality.
“Proof of this approach with companies is the Business Lab project that has been carried out in the academic model of this course at the institution. Thanks to the thirty leading companies involved, more than a thousand students from our university have been able to learn and add value to real challenges and generate innovative solutions,” says Mariló Martínez García, vice dean of the area of ??Economics and Business at the University. European.
BMW, Iberia, Hotusa, La Sagra, Lázaro or Correos have been the leading companies in the 77 challenges in which students have put their knowledge to the test and have been able to provide disruptive solutions that can be applied to specific cases. In the same way, companies have been able to get closer and learn about the learning process and the reality of young talent. “These collaborations help to verify the efforts of the European University to ensure optimal training for its students and to be aligned with what is required by the professional sector; we build from the experiential learning that characterizes the European University” points out Martínez García, who adds: “And the students acquire valuable skills and experiences that prepare them for the challenges of the world of work”.
The rapprochement between the university and business reality is evident in Digital Business Week, “a week in which companies and managers share with our students and professors their vision of technology, new business models and sustainability,” he says the vice-dean of the area of ??Economics and Business at the European University. The event analyzes the future challenges for companies and institutions on issues as relevant as digitization, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence or employability.
Telefónica, Astra Zeneca, Microsoft or Linkedin were some of the leading companies in a conference in which nearly 800 students from the Madrid, Valencia and Canary Islands campuses were able to benefit via streaming and in which more than twenty professors of the European University.
Students in the Business area can complete their training at universities in different countries such as Germany, Hungary, Italy and the United Kingdom, through bilateral agreements or within the Erasmus program. In addition, collaborative learning projects are developed with several Latin American universities that allow students to work together with students from these countries on projects related to the SDGs. They are students of the ADE and Business Analytics degrees who, accompanied by their professors, learn about sustainable impact together with the vision of Latin American students.
All this learning is reinforced with work practices in the best companies and institutions in each sector. “It should be noted that the institution has more than 16,000 agreements with companies, and 92% of the students graduated from the European University get a job the first year after graduation. This is due to a training created and developed in accordance with the labor reality and with the demands of the market, applying the necessary methodologies and resources to prepare students for a successful incorporation into the labor market”, concludes Mariló Martínez García.
Universidad Europea is present in Madrid, Valencia and the Canary Islands, with extensive state-of-the-art facilities where highly qualified professionals are trained to meet the challenges demanded by the labor market.
