Marc Márquez has won eight motorcycling world titles, six of them in Moto GP, the premier class in which he has raced since 2013, the year he joined the Repsol Honda team. In addition to being intractable in the 153 races that he has already accumulated in Moto GP, with a record of 59 victories and 100 podiums, the Catalan rider also does not let up his rivals in official training.
Achieving pole position in Moto GP not only dresses the rider who gets it as a favourite, but also serves to qualify for a succulent prize that BMW offers every year to the fastest riders in training. The German manufacturer presents each season with a completely new M model to the driver who gets the most pole positions during the World Cup. Márquez has done it up to seven times, with which the Munich-based firm has given him as many cars.
One of these models, specifically the BMW M2 Coupé that Márquez obtained in 2016, is currently for sale. The Lcoches dealer, in Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), publishes on its website the announcement of the aforementioned model that is sold for 47,990 euros. “Leaving aside the value that the car may have for having belonged to Marc Márquez, it is a real opportunity,” they comment from the dealership. “It is a car that is in very good condition and it shows that it has been taken care of. It has all the revisions in order”.
The car was registered in May 2017 and has 76,000 kilometers. In 2021 it appeared for sale on a well-known used product internet platform and, according to Lcoches, it has only had one owner since then. The car is signed inside the hood by Marc Márquez to certify that it was owned by him.
Since the Esplugues de Llobregat dealership advertised the sale of the BMW M2 Coupé, various people have shown interest in buying the car. Although it is not a new model, its price is “interesting given its condition” since the latest generation units that are currently on the market start at an initial price of 91,250 euros. The new model, however, has evolved and is equipped with an engine that delivers 460 CV, 90 CV more than the car that belonged to Marc Márquez.
The M2 that the driver from Cervera debuted in 2016 is powered by a 370 hp TwinPower in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine, with which it accelerates from 0 to 1,100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. The BMW M dual-clutch gearbox with Drivelogic ensures sporty driving and stability in all situations.
As far as equipment is concerned, the car lacks nothing. It has a Harman-Kardon sound system -to which a set of Harman Kardon HiFi speakers can be added for 972 euros-, full led headlights, electric leather seats with memory and heating, keyless starting and opening, GPS navigator and 19 inch wheels. In addition, various driving modes are offered.
Among the ADAS driving assistance systems that the car includes, we find a rear camera, rear parking sensors, light and rain sensors and automatic high beams.
In the following link you can see the seven models that since 2013 Marc Márquez has received from BMW for being the rider with the most pole positions in Moto GP. The first of these cars, a black BMW M6 Coupé, he received when he was barely 20 years old and was proclaimed world champion in the premier class for the first time.
