The heat wave does not let up. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains this Tuesday five communities in orange alert (significant risk) for maximum temperatures that will oscillate between 37 and 42 degrees: Andalusia, Madrid, Extremadura, Castilla La Mancha and the Canary Islands.

The maximum will be registered again in Córdoba, where they will reach 43 degrees. In Seville, they will stay a little below (41 degrees). In Badajoz, Ciudad Real, Toledo and Jaén, they will also reach 40 degrees, according to the agency’s forecast, available on its website.

The Community of Madrid will also be affected by the intense heat with maximums that will reach 39 degrees in the south, Las Vegas, the west, the metropolitan area and Henares, while in the mountains it will reach 34 degrees.

This Tuesday it will be difficult to fall asleep again. The minima will not drop below 22-24 degrees in the Mediterranean area and southwest quadrant. In addition, in Aragon and Catalonia there is a yellow alert for high temperatures and storms.

The heat will continue to tighten in the coming days. For Wednesday, the Aemet foresees increasing maximum temperatures in the Canary Islands, decreasing in the Gulf of Cádiz and northeastern areas, with few changes in the rest and in the minimum. It will exceed 34-36 degrees in large areas of the southern half of the peninsula, the northeast and in the Canary Islands, even 38-40 in valleys of the peninsular southwest.

As of Thursday, the heat wave would begin to subside. “It will not be until Thursday and Friday when the arrival and a cooler Atlantic air mass will lead to a marked thermal drop and put an end to the first heat wave of the summer of 2023,” says the Aemet spokesman. , Ruben del Campo.

A general drop in temperatures is expected, “more pronounced in the interior west, although the maximum can still be maintained above 34-36 degrees in the southwestern quadrant of the peninsula and the southern Canary Islands.” The minimums will not drop below 22 degrees on the southeastern coasts yet.

By Friday, this drop will be more pronounced indoors and in the Canary Islands, so it can only exceed 35 degrees in inland areas of the southwest. However, the lows will not drop below 22 degrees on the southeastern coasts yet.
