The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has imposed a fine of 2,000 euros on the worker of a restaurant in the central area who on January 11 deposited four bags of cardboard outside the container intended for this type of waste, and without considering the schedule. established.

This is a serious infraction included in the Municipal Ordinance for Waste Management and Cleaning of Public Spaces that contemplates penalties from 2,000 to 100,000 euros, except if it involves dangerous waste or contaminated soils, in which case the fine will be from 20,000. up to 600,000 euros.

The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, comments in a statement that the council has the obligation to enforce the Municipal Ordinance and, therefore, to sanction those people who do not respect the rules of coexistence and who, through their actions, They deteriorate the city’s heritage “which belongs to everyone and whose maintenance costs work, effort and money.”

For his part, the Councilor for Public Services, Carlos Tarife, explains that the police report confirms that this is not the first time that this worker acts like this, depositing garbage outside the container when it is empty and he had already been warned that his behavior was not was correct.

He adds that the Municipal Ordinance must be enforced and good use must be made of the underground containers that are enabled to collect waste separately.
