The publication of the report The cemetery of the drought in the Sau reservoir, with the photographs by Emili Vilamala showing how the water has almost completely submerged the old cemetery again, has given rise to Juan Peco to also share in Las Fotos de The Readers of La Vanguardia some images of the same place, but totally exposed.
This is the comparison in photographs that certifies the recovery of the reservoir, currently over 30% of its capacity, when a few months ago it was below 10% and completely exposed both the cemetery and the rest of the ruins of the old town of Sau.
In addition, the arid place that the Sau reservoir had become at the end of winter and beginning of spring has been transformed into a large green garden full of flowers, as other photographic reports by readers have certified.
The swamp, inaugurated in 1962, covered the village of Sant Romà de Sau. The Sau reservoir, in the municipality of Vilanova de Sau, at the foot of the Guilleries massif, belongs to the Ter river basin. It is part of a system of three swamps (along with those of Susqueda and Pasteral) that unites the counties of Osona, in the province of Barcelona, ??and Selva, in the province of Girona.
Although all the ruins of the old town are once again submerged, the bell tower of the emblematic Romanesque church of Sant Romà is still exposed, as this snapshot by Petra Heisterhagen shows.
