The examining magistrate has proposed to the Competition a four-match ban on Real Madrid player Fede Valverde for punching Villarreal player Álex Baena in the face in the parking lot of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, as reported by the Cope chain.
The incident, which occurred after the league match between the whites and the groguets, which resulted in a yellow victory (2-3), was not reflected in the arbitration report drawn up by the Ciudad Real referee Alberola Rojas. The game corresponded to day 28 and Valverde was able to play the remaining ten days of the championship.
Valverde, who had had his ups and downs with Baena during the game, waited for the Spanish player in the car park, where he ended up attacking him after a risqué dialectical exchange. The Uruguayan’s environment alleged serious insults that led to his punching, totally unjustifiable.
Valverde’s attack could have gone unpunished had it not been for Baena’s complaint to the police on April 9. The judicial route opened by the Roquetas de Mar player did not contemplate a sports sanction for the Real Madrid midfielder, but later the Anti-Violence Commission transferred the case to Competition, which appointed an investigating judge to propose a sanction.
If the sanction is confirmed, Valverde would miss Real Madrid’s first four games next season in the Santander League. The one from Montevideo would not play against Athletic in San Mamés, against Almería in the Mediterranean Games, against Celta in Balaídos and finally against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabéu.
