Summer invites you to enjoy Badalona beach and the splendid viewpoint of the Pont del Petroli, a jetty that juts out 250 meters into the sea and offers great views, also, of the sky furrowed by contrails, as we see in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.
Planes form a contrail after the kerosene combustion process. The gases expelled by the engine come out at a much higher temperature than that of the outside.
The sharp contrast of temperatures at a height above 30,000 feet (-50 degrees in the environment) causes the immediate condensation of the water present in this mixture of substances. This makes us see this kind of elongated ice clouds that dissolve after a short time.
The Pont del Petroli was built in 1879 for the unloading of petroleum products. In 2009 the environment was remodelled, which no longer has industrial use and is a tourist attraction. Storm Gloria, with waves of up to 10 meters, destroyed part of the platform, forcing it to be repaired.
Badalona’s coastline stretches for almost 5 km, of which 3.7 are beaches. The identifying element of this sector of the coast is the Pont del Petroli.
