After the “a bit delicate birth” of the PP candidate for the Catalan elections, in the words of Alejandro Fernández himself, Alberto Núñez Feijóo has launched the Popular Party’s campaign today from Barcelona, ??underlining the importance that, in two ways, the 12-M. He has thus asked to concentrate the vote in the Catalan PP to confront the independence movement and end the process. And, at the same time, he has been convinced that if the pro-independence parties fail to govern in Catalonia, Pedro Sánchez will no longer have his support in Congress.

The president of the PP has therefore stressed the importance of elections that can change the future of Catalonia, leaving behind, he said, a stage of “convulsion and decline.” And whose results can also decide the “future of Spain.” For this reason, he has appealed to the voters of Ciudadanos, also to those of Vox who above all reject the “uncertainties” in Catalonia, and to those of the PSC who have felt deceived, to support the candidacy of Alejandro Fernández. He has defended that the PP be a reference for “constitutionalism today and in the future”

In the speech he gave before the board of directors of the formation in Catalonia, where the candidacy for the Catalan elections was supported, Feijóo considered that the PSC, Junts and ERC are three legs of the same project. For this reason, he has insisted on the need to “concentrate the vote in the PP” to stop the independence movement and recover a Catalonia “that once again is the most prosperous and avant-garde in Spain.”

In this double-key reading of the Catalan elections, where he considers that if the non-governmental independence movement will stop supporting Pedro Sánchez, Feijóo has warned that the party must be prepared for an electoral advance in Spain. With good prospects according to the polls, the president of the Popular Party has highlighted that the PP has the capacity to be decisive this time, and this card must be played strongly.

The start of the pre-campaign of the popular parties occurs after yesterday the national leadership proposed the candidacy of Alejandro Fernández, after an arduous deliberative process where there have been many consultations and analysis. Feijóo has given him explicit support today, recalling that he has “heard many voices” and that is why he has chosen Fernández “without hesitation.” The first thing the Catalan leader did when he went up to the lectern was to point out that although the birth was “a bit delicate”, the child – himself – came out “healthy and feisty but he is going to let everyone sleep for the nights”.

Such a reference to loyalty to Núñez Feijóo and a commitment to party unity, with different opinions regarding the candidacy. For this reason, the leader of the popular party has stressed that the electoral lists will include all the “sensitivities” of the party. In this sense, he has highlighted above all the role of the candidate as well as that of Dolors Montserrat in the current configuration of the formation.

Alejandro Fernández has indicated that a window is opening to return to an “exciting and luminous stage, and has also stressed that Catalonia must be the first step for Núñez Feijóo to reach Moncloa and definitively end the process. Dolors Montserrat has appealed to the unity of the party, has accused Sánchez of returning to the independence movement, when it was out of breath, at the starting point. And he has also set his sights on the general elections.
