As in each of its productions, the company La Conquesta del Pol Sud invites the public to embark on a journey. Regulars of the Grec, on this occasion it is La Villarroel that hosts the latest project by director Carles Fernández Giua and video artist Eugenio Szwarcer, Guardians of the Heart of the Earth until July 9.

A member of the Huni Kuin community of the Brazilian jungle, Txana Bane, who performs their music on stage, and Peruvian dancer Gabriela Olivera are who act as guides on this trip through the Amazon.

“This is the first part of a diptych –explains the director–. We share with the viewers a journey and some questions: What alternatives and what ideas do we find, what energy? It must be a powerful articulated thought that can guide us and help us to see the things that we do well and those that we do wrong”.

They have explored in Tibet and the Amazon, with “the aim of enriching ourselves with these cultures, what can they give us”, in a process of “transformation”. It is a commitment to “immersive theatre, we interact a lot with the image, which is one more character.”

In the Amazon “we have had a double perception, of great fragility, because it is a very fragile cultural structure, but very powerful, very strong. We understand that the Amazon does not have to be a museum, but you have to see how ethnotourism is articulated ”, he concludes.
