The sunsets from La Concha beach are always special, but perhaps even more so in summer, when we have more time to enjoy them more calmly. In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can see this example.

La Concha beach, bathed by the waters of the Cantabrian Sea, places us to the west of the mouth of the Urumea River, separated from it by Mount Urgull and the city center.

The beach has an average length of 1,350 meters, an average width of 40 meters and an average area of ??54,000 m². The promenade that runs along the bay of La Concha is made up of several sections with different names.

As its name indicates, the bay is shell-shaped, and is home to two beaches (Ondarreta and La Concha beach) and an island, Santa Clara.

The bay occupies the space between the Igueldo (west) and Urgull (east) mountains. With the sediments accumulated at the mouth of the Urumea River, a small isthmus was formed that joined the island of Urgull to the mainland.

This is how the current bay was formed, whose shell shape would be consolidated with the construction of the promenade, from where we can enjoy the summer sunsets.
