Two activists from the environmental entity Futuro Vegetal have sprayed paint this Sunday in Eivissa the yacht of Nancy Waton, the heiress to Walmart and one of the richest women in the world, with an estimated fortune of 8.7 billion, according to Forbes magazine.

The yacht is 110 meters long and worth 300 million, according to the organization. The activists approached the port and began to spray paint on the yacht, in the presence of one of the employees, who immediately tried to clean the paint off. However, by the time he tried it, the yacht had been painted and a banner unfurled. Activists have also taken action against a Lamborghini, with red paint.

In their action they used fire extinguishers filled with paint to facilitate spraying. A few days ago they did the same with a private jet that was at the Eivissa airport. They ensure that the action against the yacht puts “the finishing touch” to the campaign ‘jets and yachts, the party is over’ (private planes and yachts, the party is over) for which they demand the ban on private jet flights

“The only reason why we continue to maintain an economic system that leads us to eco-social collapse is to sustain the privileges of this small privileged class. The mega-rich live off the suffering of others,” they say in a statement and on their social networks. They affirm that only the union of the people against the “necropolitics of the powerful” is capable of generating a change in the agri-food system “that allows us to mitigate the worst consequences of climate chaos.”

As an example of the need for change, they cite the heat wave that has been experienced these days in Spain “Neither all the repression nor the result of any electoral process is going to curb our determination to mitigate the impact of the climate crisis. We Life is about it,” they add.

This same week, Futuro Vegetal activists were arrested after circumventing the security measures and slipping onto the runway at the Eivissa airport. In this case, they sprayed a jet with paint using the same method as the one used on the yacht and then stuck to the Avignon with glue. They were detained by the Civil Guard, but this Sunday they have acted again, in this case against a yacht.
