I captured this photograph from Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, enjoying the beach and surfing (a sport that I sometimes practice) in summer on Las Canteras-La Cicer beach.
The image of the young surfer on the surfboard could be summed up like this: Paddling to get to the crest of the wave. And it is not strange, because one of the great attractions of La Cicer is surfing.
In its favor, this end of Las Canteras beach does not have a barrier reef, which makes it easier for the waves to wash up on the shore, creating a pleasant whitewater getaway for beginners.
La Cicer, in reality, is a stretch of beach suitable for all levels of surfing and body-boarding, but it is especially ideal for those who are beginning to exercise in this aquatic discipline.
Las Canteras beach forms a strip of sand more than three kilometers long, which stretches across the bay. It is considered one of the best urban beaches in Europe.
