I have been able to portray in detail for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia this green frog when it sang, in Muntanyola, in the Osona region.

Now is still a good time to listen to the croaking of the frogs, since their breeding season runs from April to July.

Males reach sexual maturity at two years of age and females at one year. Two of the numerous forms of song emitted by males have been related to courtship, although others have to do with the defense of small territories.

Frogs, then, emit sounds mainly for reproductive purposes. The males sing so that the females choose them as a partner to reproduce.

They usually sing near water, where they will lay their eggs, but they can also sing from trees, rocks, or the ground.

Males also sing to mark ownership, that is, to drive their competition away from the female with whom they will reproduce.
