In Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we have visited the birthplace of Enric Prat de la Riba (1870-1917) in Castellterçol, in the Moianès, today converted into a museum around the figure of the first president of the Commonwealth of Catalonia (1914-1917) and one of the main architects of the revival of Catalan national sentiment in the 19th century.
Participated in the drafting and approval of the Manresa Bases. As a writer, his primary work was The Catalan nationality (1906), an organicist concept of the nation.
The Prat de la Riba house museum wants to remember the figure of this politician, a fundamental piece of politics at the beginning of the 20th century. Here, where he was born and died, the atmosphere and furniture of the time are preserved, as can be seen in the photographs, showing the family and work spaces of Prat de la Riba.
An audiovisual montage accompanies us throughout the visit to follow his professional career. His writings as a jurist, his work as director of La Veu de Catalunya or his holding public office were always aimed at developing his ideas.
From the Mancomunitat de Catalunya, Prat de la Riba and his collaborators promoted the modernization of the country, expanded the infrastructures and health centers and supported training and culture.
The house is located in the navel of the town of Castellterçol, in the square that bears the name of Prat de la Riba. It is one of the most striking constructions, because the façade is painted with very elegant and original drawings, as we see in the images.
The house is old, probably built in the 17th century. But it was in 1800 when its owners gave it its current appearance. At that time, Dr. Padrós lived there and the house was known by the name of that family.
