Jòdul has three generations, but with two dates of birth. The soul of the company dates back to 1973, when the family’s first adventure in the distribution of building materials began. Later sold, the second generation did not take long to launch another project in 1992. Three decades have gone by and counting…

Piloted from the headquarters in Taradell (Osona), today it covers the entire range, from the basics of building materials –bricks, cement or adhesives– to high-quality finishes for hotels where luxury reigns. They specialize in porcelain, parquet and wood floor and wall tiles, sanitaryware, taps and kitchens. The wide vision allows to attend from the one who looks for a faucet to the one who raises a hospital center. “We try to offer high quality at a competitive price for all types of customers,” says Aman Cabanas, third generation and commercial manager.

Professionals and promoters are the key profile. A large part of the business comes from the hotel, retail or newly built residential sector for rent and official protection. “We want to be the extension of architects and interior designers”, he explains. Jòdul, which does not manufacture, works with local brands such as Sira Concrete and international brands such as the Italian Mutina and Marazzi or the German Dornbracht.

As one discovers when entering a work, touching and living the material is essential. The company has two showrooms to display the latest trends. One central in Taradell, recently renovated, and the other in Barcelona, ??opened in 2017. The second has been a key milestone. “It allowed us to open a place where we have greatly increased sales, working with top-level architecture studios and international leaps,” argues Cabanas. Coupled with a “day-to-day effort, with good customer service and competitive prices”, in six years it has gone from billing six million to 18 million, the forecast for this year.

The boost has also come from the international business, which has gone from being almost non-existent to 10%-15%. The United Kingdom, France, Mexico, South America, Singapore… “Accompanying our clients in international projects has allowed us to open up to the world,” she explains.

In between there have been no shortage of challenges. Inflation has caused “a joint absorption of costs” between company and client, although demand has continued to grow. One of the engines today is being the hotel sector. “He is experiencing a very strong recovery after the pandemic.” He cites five-star hotels in Madrid, Barcelona and Marbella as an example.

With 35 employees, all the profit is reinvested. Despite the growth, they always keep their feet on the ground, he assures, whether it is with an individual “or with the owner of a chain.” Like the company, it is already a family thing.
