In gastronomy, it is often perceived that high-quality dishes with an exquisite flavor require a high budget for their preparation. However, this is a belief that has been consistently challenged by chefs and cooking enthusiasts around the world. The reality is that with ingenuity, creativity, and a good knowledge of the ingredients, it is entirely possible to make impressive dishes on small budgets.
The chef Elias Dosunmu, very given to this type of challenge, has caused a sensation on social networks after publishing a video where he demonstrates that with only 10 euros you can prepare a haute cuisine dish. This time, Dosunmu opted for a Sirloin Wellington.
The tiktoker chef carefully detailed each product he purchased for this recipe, adding a total of 9.90 euros. The ingredients list included a quality sirloin cut, puff pastry, mushrooms, an egg, ham and other essential ingredients for this dish.
The preparation was meticulous. He used kitchen string to shape the tenderloin, searing the meat in a hot skillet to retain its juices. He then proceeded to go through the recipe step by step, from preparing the mushroom mixture, known as duxelles, to wrapping the sirloin in the puff pastry.
Despite his precision and experience, Dosunmu commented during the cooking of the dish that it had not turned out the way he wanted. “We’ve gone a bit too far,” he said, referring to the point of meat. However, once he tasted the dish, he confirmed with a smile: “It’s good though.”
