“The summer pool network will offer morning, afternoon and full-day shifts from August 1 to September 10.” With this statement, the Madrid City Council has put an end to one of the latest socio-sanitary measures derived from the pandemic that had aroused so much criticism among users.
The general price will be 4.50 euros (same rate as in 2019, pre-Covid years), half in the case of part-time. In addition to the free admission for children under 5 years of age, the rest of the reductions of the assumptions established at the beginning of the season are maintained.
Up to a maximum of six tickets per day per person can be purchased in advance. When the season ends, the establishment of the three shifts for the following summers will be evaluated.
The Consistory has explained that the initiative will be launched in August as it is a month in which demand decreases and that they will use it to include the full day in the ticket sales computer program.
It will be the first time that the summer pools of the Madrid City Council offer three different shifts: from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. To distinguish full-time users, they will be given a bracelet.
The Councilor for Sport of the Madrid City Council, Sonia Cea, explained that the objective of this measure is to “offer a service that is better suited to the needs of the people of Madrid”.
Also starting in August, the maximum number of tickets that each person can buy in advance over the Internet will be reduced. Thus, compared to the nine that can now be purchased per person 49 hours in advance, from August 1 the maximum number will be six.
This measure is in addition to the one taken two weeks ago to increase the percentage of tickets available at the box office from 5 to 10, especially aimed at favoring the most vulnerable groups with the digital divide. This is intended to better manage the capacity of the swimming pools.
