Osasuna will have to pay a large fine to UEFA for having resorted to ordinary justice in their fight to participate in the Conference League next season. This Thursday, the body has communicated to the rojillo club the resolution of the disciplinary procedure that was opened.
The highest body of European football sanctions the Navarrese entity with a fine of 100,000 euros and 5% of the income that it can obtain in the European competition from the group stage, in the event that it disputes it after the tie that it will play on August 24 and 31.
In addition, UEFA imposes a one-year sanction on the club without participating in European competitions, a sanction that is in turn suspended for a probationary period of 2 years. During that period, if the entity does not resort to ordinary justice, the sanction will be without effect.
The European body points out that Osasuna has violated several articles of its Statutes “for not having respected the exclusive jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), in Lausanne, by filing a claim before the ordinary courts of the state of Pamplona ” .
Therefore, Osasuna will have to pay the economic fine imposed by UEFA, but will be able to participate in the next edition of the 2023-24 Conference League and will not suffer any additional sporting sanction if during the next two years they do not resort to ordinary justice against UEFA as is its purpose.
“The entity will abide by the decision of the UEFA Appeals Committee and will not appeal it,” Osasuna said in a statement made public this Thursday morning, shortly after learning of the resolution of the disciplinary procedure that had been opened against the player. rojillo club
