A 50-year-old woman has suffered a spinal cord injury after an accident that occurred yesterday Sunday when she was climbing on Pico de la Miel, in La Cabrera, in the northern mountains of Madrid, the Madrid Emergency Medical Service (SUMMA 112) has reported.

Around 8:30 a.m., the Summa received notice from a group of hikers who reported that a woman had fallen from a height of two meters and had severe back pain.

A helicopter from the Special Height Rescue Group (GERA) of the Community of Madrid Firefighters has moved to the place, whose specialists have immobilized the woman and rescued her with the help of the aircraft’s crane.

Subsequently, the victim was received by medical personnel from a Summa helicopter, who diagnosed the woman with a spinal cord injury, which was later confirmed at the La Paz hospital where she was transferred.
