Today’s festive day claimed two lives in the mountains, that of a 39-year-old man from Altafulla (Tarragonès) and another, 52, from Navarra. The first one died this morning when he fell on the Molières peak, at 3,010 meters, on the slope of the Val d’Aran, and the second one on the Cresa de Llósas, in the Posets Maladeta national park, in Benasque.
The Civil Guard of Huesca has reported this afternoon that, at dawn, they have received a call alerting that a relative who had left alone to do the Llosás Ridge had not returned. GREIM troops have activated the air unit to start the search, early this morning. Around 10:30 a.m., they located the man’s body, “which had injuries incompatible with life after falling 100 meters.”
For their part, the Val d’Aran Emergency Pompiers have indicated that at 12:26 they received a call from the Molières shelter “informing that a man had fallen near the ponds” of the same name. The mountain rescuers have gone to the place, have proceeded to practice resuscitation maneuvers and have evacuated him to the hospital in Vielha, where his death has been certified.
From the bodies specialized in rescues in the natural environment, extreme prudence in the mountains is requested. This month of August, the death of a young man who, while descending from Punta Alta, in the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, fell into a channel was also mourned.
