Geyse Ferreira will play for Manchester United. The Brazilian forward had been seen in recent days in the English city and this Friday FC Barcelona confirmed the transfer of the footballer to the Manchester club, who had a contract with the Blaugrana club until June 30, 2024. According to some sources , the English club would have paid some 300,000 euros to the Catalan club, making this operation the highest transfer in the team’s history.

The Brazilian international, who has just played in the World Cup this summer, thus ends a season at FC Barcelona with which she has won three titles: League, Champions League and Super Cup. She arrived at the Catalan club last summer, from Madrid CFF, and has played a total of 37 games with the Blaugrana shirt, 25 of them as a starter, in which she has scored a total of 11 goals.

Manchester has not made the contract extension official, although its coach, Mark Skinner, has highlighted “the winning mentality” that the footballer will bring to his squad. “Geyse is a proven winner on the biggest stages. We are delighted to welcome him into our family”, the coach told the club’s media. The Brazilian striker also spoke, confessing that she was “very happy” to sign for this club: “I am very grateful for this opportunity and I thank everyone for making it a reality.”

FC Barcelona, ??for its part, has publicly said goodbye to the footballer and wished her luck in her future: “The Club thanks Geyse for her professionalism in the season that she has worn the Barça shirt and wishes her good luck in her future, both on a personal and professional level.”

Geyse’s departure is the second confirmed in Jonatan Giráldez’s team this summer after the termination of Nuria Rábano’s contract, who was also linked to the Catalan club until 2024. Another footballer who could leave after the World Cup is Laia Codina. The center back is completing a great World Cup and after a year in which she has not had much prominence at Barça, she could also head towards the English league. According to the country’s press, Arsenal would have taken over her services.
