Artificial intelligence boosts Nvidia’s business. The US manufacturer of microchips and graphics cards multiplied profits in its fiscal second quarter by more than nine, to 6,188 million dollars (5,691 million euros) compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the results presented late this Wednesday, the figure triples the previous quarter. The good results shot up its shares by 8% after the market closed.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says that “a new computing age has begun” in which companies around the world are moving to accelerated computing and generative artificial intelligence. With this the income also doubles. The company entered between May and July 13,507 million dollars (12,427.8 million euros).

The data center division more than doubled its revenue to a record of 10,320 million dollars (9,500 million euros), the video game branch billed 2,490 million dollars (2,292 million euros), 22% more than a year before, and the automotive products area 253 million dollars (233 million euros), 15% more. The turnover of the business of professional visualization technologies decreased by 24% year-on-year, being 379 million dollars (349 million euros).

In the first six months of its fiscal year, from February to July, the technology company earns more than 8,232 million dollars (7,577 million euros), more than triple that of the previous year. Half-year revenues reach 20,699 million dollars (19,055 million euros), 38% more.

The company expects to reach 16,000 million dollars (14,732 million euros) in revenue, with an upward or downward margin of 2%, and is confident of raising its gross margin to 71.5%, with a margin above or below 50 basis points.
