The Tarragona City Council and the Network for Attention to Homeless People have called on citizens to participate in the count of homeless people on October 17.

The organization hopes to reach a hundred participants to help them have data to “develop a city strategy.”

“Without data we cannot act,” said the coordinator of the Program for Attention to Homeless People, Antònia Garcia, who defends the importance of the initiative. During the last count in 2021, 77 homeless people were located on the streets of the city, while in 2019 the figure was 84.

Despite this downward trend, Garcia stressed that this year “the data are not optimistic.”
