FC Barcelona will compete in the 2025 Spanish Super Cup after securing second place with a 3-0 victory against Rayo Vallecano in Montjuïc. The Barça team will face Athletic Club, champion of the Copa del Rey, in the semi-finals.
The Super Cup, which will be held in Saudi Arabia for the fourth season, will take place in the second week of January, before the penultimate matchday of the Champions group stage.
Barça’s presence in this competition represents an economic relief for the club, since six million euros are guaranteed just for participating, a figure that can increase depending on the Catalan club’s performance in the Super Cup.
It is also a respite for the Federation, since the institution chaired by Pedro Rocha will earn five million euros thanks to the participation of FC Barcelona in the tournament.
The other semifinal will be played by Real Madrid, league champion, and Mallorca, for being the runners-up of the Copa del Rey. If Catalans and Madrid overcome their respective qualifying rounds, they will meet again in the final for the third consecutive edition.
