White, midi and feminine skirts are going to be one of the great viral garments of this fall/winter 2023-24 season. The fault, in large part, lies with none other than Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, two fashion greats who have collaborated as co-creative directors of Prada for three years.
The golden duo predicted for their autumn/winter 2023 collection that the white skirt would become the queen of the streets. They practically did what some would understand as a study of the white skirt in an elegant, feminine, comfortable and timeless version. But even though in editorials and fashion magazines, the mini version was the one that went viral the most, the midi option is the one that has every chance of winning.
Skirts with a lot of volume, layers and with a very marked waist, which recalls the iconic silhouette of Dior’s New Look, or, on the contrary, skirts with a pencil silhouette, more associated with the femininity of the working girl, plain or decorated with flowers or silhouettes in 3D.
Some low-cost brands have quickly recreated the aesthetics of Prada skirts and brought them closer to the entire public. This is the case of Zara, which has rushed to launch its New Look style skirt model in a Limited Edition version, for 39.95 euros.
Mango opts for the pencil-style silhouette, in a more informal version in denim fabric, versatile and perfect for any time of the year, for only 25.99 euros. Massimo Dutti also opts for denim, but with a broader silhouette in the form of panels with contrast stitching.
