A new DANA will leave an unstable day in the Balearic Islands and in the extreme northeast of the peninsula, with cloudy or overcast skies and showers and storms that will cease from south to north to remain generally slightly cloudy. It is likely that these rains will become very strong on the islands and in Mediterranean coastal areas and will be accompanied by hail in the Balearic Islands, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet).
It will also rain in the north of the country. The entry of an Atlantic front throughout the day will leave cloudy skies and precipitation in Galicia, which will extend to other areas of the northwest at the end. These will be more abundant in the northwest of this community, with the probability of becoming strong and persistent. In the rest of the Peninsula, predominantly cloudy skies or high clouds.
The agency has activated the orange warning in the Balearic Islands due to rainfall that could leave 40 mm in just one hour. Very heavy rains are also expected on the coast of Tarragona, where 60 mm can accumulate. The rest of the areas of the Mediterranean coast remain under yellow warning, from the province of Castellón to Girona.
Regarding temperatures, for today a decrease in minimum temperatures is expected in the east and southeast of the peninsula and without major changes in the rest. The maximums will increase in the Cantabrian area, Iberian system, and the east and southeast of the peninsula; On the other hand, they will decrease in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Galicia.
By Thursday, DANA will have moved away from the peninsula, although it may still leave early morning showers in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. However, Aemet foresees the entry of a front associated with an Atlantic storm that will sweep the country from west to east with widespread rains in its wake, weaker and more dispersed in the Mediterranean.
The situation will stabilize by the end of the week. For Friday, although some blows from the front are still expected in the north of the country, large clearings will open to give way to a stable weekend throughout the country.
Temperatures are expected to recover for Saturday and Sunday, when there will be a general rise, more pronounced in the northern half, reaching values ??more typical of the season.
