In Suances (Cantabria), it is possible to see sunrise and sunset at the sea, as seen in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos. From the peninsula where the Suances Lighthouse and the White Rock are located at the tip.
Looking to the east we have La Concha beach at our feet where we can watch the sunrise. While, if we look to the west, we see Los Locos beach below, very popular at sunset.
Los Locos receives this name because it is a beach at the mercy of the wind and with rougher seas, considered more dangerous than the calm and tranquil beach of La Concha.
The port of Suances is located in the San Martín de la Arena estuary, while the other part of Suances is located in the elevated area.
La Concha beach is the largest sandy area in Suances, with fine, golden sand. It is famous for hosting numerous tournaments and championships in various sports disciplines.
The Punta del Torco de Afuera lighthouse or Suances lighthouse is located at the mouth of the San Martín de la Arena estuary. It came into operation in 1863.
