The investment fund Investindustrial has taken 51% of the capital of Virospack, a dropper manufacturer founded in Badalona in 1956.

The Rodríguez family will retain the remaining 49% of capital, as well as the management positions. According to sources linked to the investment fund, Vicens Rodríguez will remain in the position of executive president and his daughter Aida Rodríguez will occupy the position of CEO. Likewise, the investment fund “is committed to preserving the 400 jobs,” say sources linked to the investment fund, which in Catalonia also controls the PortAventura amusement park.

The operation – whose price is confidential – symbolizes the opening of a new stage in the history of this dropper manufacturer, which has today become a great ally of the cosmetics industry worldwide. According to these same sources, Virospack works for well-known brands such as Estée Lauder, Clarins, Bioderma or Natura Bissé. “The Badalona factory exports 90% to more than 20 countries on four continents and invoices around 60 million euros per year,” they say.

The investment fund, led by Italian investor Andrea C. Bonomi, has designed an ambitious growth plan at Virospack. In the next three years, it plans to increase the capacity of the Badolona factory by 50%, which has already been expanded in the last ten years with an investment of 60 million euros. These sources add that this expansion of productive capacity will lead to a “significant” increase in the number of workers on staff.

According to Bonomi, the investment in this Catalan company responds to a global strategy of the investment fund – whose latest vehicle is endowed with 1,100 million euros of financing – which aims to enter companies in the Iberian Peninsula with the need to grow and accelerate their presence in the international market.
