The (almost full) September moon seems to have chosen last night the bell tower of the Puig-agut sanctuary, in Manlleu (Osona), to play hide and seek, appearing and hiding behind this structure of the religious temple, as seen in these images in The Photos of La Vanguardia Readers.
The first full moon of autumn can be observed in all its splendor tomorrow, Friday, September 29 at 11:57 a.m., when it will reach its fullness with 100% of its visible side illuminated by sunlight.
Furthermore, it will not only be a moon, but a supermoon (it will appear larger and brighter), given that this month will coincide with its perigee, that is, the moment in which the orbit of our natural satellite brings it closest to the Earth. .
This September full moon is known as the harvest or cereal moon, due to the agricultural calendar. As usually happens in these cases, it also receives other names, such as mating season, since it coincides with the mating season of deer, reindeer and other animals.
As we see in the video images, the optical effect makes it appear as if the moon was moving from the bottom of the bell tower to the top, crossing it from behind.
The Puig-agut sanctuary was the first temple of its kind in Spain to be dedicated to the Sacred Heart. Its construction was promoted at the end of the 19th century by Ramón Madirolas y Codina, an innovative farmer who promoted it from the Faro de Puig-agut magazine.
The direction of the work was carried out by the architect August Font y Carreras, who used a neo-Gothic style with some Romanesque and even neoclassical facets, inspired by the French basilica of Tarbes.
