The National Police have arrested two people in the Madrid district of San Blas-Canillejas whom the agents stopped because the van in which they were traveling lacked an MOT and inside which they found 23.6 kilos of cocaine.

Those arrested, a 44-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both of Dominican origin and with no criminal record, had committed an alleged crime against public health, the Madrid Police Headquarters reported this Thursday.

During their routine inspection tasks, the Citizen Security agents stopped them when they found that the van lacked a technical vehicle inspection (ITV), to which the detainees responded nervously.

In the car the police found traces of a white substance, which raised their suspicions and upon inspecting the vehicle they detected a hidden cache in the underside of the van.

In this space, the detainees were transporting nine packages with a total of 23.6 kilos of cocaine.
