An 11-year-old boy has died from meningitis in the Valencian town of Rocafort, as confirmed by the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health.
From its central Epidemiology services, and through the Valencia Public Health Center, the usual protocol in these cases has been activated and the child’s direct contacts are being investigated and located to carry out the corresponding epidemiological surveys to determine the cases that require prophylaxis administration.
At the same time, Public Health has sent a sample of the bacteria to be serotyped to the National Center for Microbiology in order to complete the microbiological study within the framework of the Epidemiological Surveillance System, health sources explain to Europa Press.
