For the first time, Badalona will have a May Festival scarf designed by a prominent figure in the world of fashion. The scarf has been altruistically conceived by the prestigious haute couture designer Lorenzo Caprile.
The mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier Garcia Albiol, and the second deputy mayor of the Area of ??Economic and City Promotion, Work, Culture, Citizenship and Government, Cristina Agüera, have today unveiled the scarf with the designer during a visit to their workshop. The scarf is white with blue decoration. Lorenzo Caprile has explained that he has been inspired by the colors of Badalona, ??the flag and the blue of the sea and by the fretwork of the mosaics of the city of Baetulo that are preserved in “the spectacular Museum of Badalona”.
The mayor of Badalona, ??Xavier Garcia Albiol, has explained that he met Caprile in his previous mandate and that at the beginning of the current mandate he already contacted him to make the proposal. The mayor has expressed his satisfaction that the city can count on this special design of the scarf. “I am very happy that a couturier of great national and international prestige has collaborated altruistically with our May Festival and that he has been inspired by the roots of Badalona and the colors of our flag and the sea,” he explained. The scarf will be sold at the price of one euro and can be purchased on April 23, Sant Jordi’s Day, at the municipal stand and from April 27 at the Tourist Office and in the city libraries. In total, 75,000 units will be manufactured and before the start of the festivities, 25,000 handkerchiefs will be distributed free of charge to all children in daycare centers, Early Childhood and Primary Education, and special education centers.
