A 30-year-old resident of Andorra has died in a head-on collision between two cars on the C-14 in Figols and Alinyà (in Alt Urgell, Lleida), as reported by the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT).

The accident occurred at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday at kilometer 166.3 of the road when, for reasons that are still being investigated, two cars collided face to face and were then hit by a truck.

The passenger cars caught fire and emergency services were able to get the two drivers out of the vehicles. One of them lost his life as a result of the crash. In addition, the driver of the other car was less seriously injured and she was taken to the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital.

Five Mossos patrols and ten Firefighters were activated and extinguished the fire with water and foam lines, removed the vehicles from the road and cleaned the road. Two ambulances from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) also intervened.

The road was closed in both directions of the march and traffic returned to normal at one in the morning.
