Elisa Aguilar, the only candidate to succeed Jorge Garbajosa, who resigned last August to undertake a new stage as president of FIBA ??Europe, was named this Monday president of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB).

The NH Collection Eurobuilding hotel in Madrid hosted the Extraordinary Assembly of the FEB in which 77 of the assembly members and representatives of all levels of Spanish basketball voted in favor of Elisa Aguilar and two abstained.

Aguilar, who worked closely in recent years with Garbajosa as Director of Competitions, thus became the second woman to head one of the 34 Olympic federations and the only one within the federation – Asunción Loriente was the first to hold the position of president, in Remo.

The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, showed his total support and confidence in Aguilar: “I see Elisa as a prepared person, a great player, who has created history alongside other players who initially paved the way for basketball studies. Spanish”.
