The Slovak soprano Patricia Janecková has died at the age of 25 due to breast cancer that was diagnosed 20 months ago, according to the Facebook profile of the artist, considered a rising opera star.

“She passed away on October 1, 2023, surrounded by the tender care of her husband, Vlastimil Burda, and her loved ones,” notes that social network, which states that the artist “leaves a lasting legacy through her sound recordings and visuals, which guarantees that it will remain with us forever.

Janecková announced in early February 2022 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had to stop her performances. “With a heavy heart, I have to leave the stage for a while and cancel all concerts so I can fight and heal completely,” she said then.

“Life goes on and I believe that I will win this fight with the help of the doctors and I will return with all my strength. I wish you all good health, be happy, take care of yourselves and, most importantly, do not forget prevention!”, he said then. on his Instagram account.

The singer moved to Slovakia shortly after being born in the German city of Münchberg. In 2010, when she was 12 years old, Janecková won the Talentmania talent show, broadcast on Czech and Slovak television.

A year later he released his first album, a project in which the Czech singer Karel Gott, known as the “Sinatra of the East”, participated, the Czech newspaper Blesk reports today.

Since then, she participated in numerous productions and at only 21 years old, Janecková already had 193,000 followers on the social network YouTube and was considered by some experts to be a rising star of lyrical theater.

The singer married actor Vlastimil Burda last June. Last August she underwent a mastectomy as part of efforts to fight cancer, after six months of chemotherapy.
