The New York State Police found this Monday Charlotte Sena, the 9-year-old girl who was kidnapped on Saturday and who kept the North American country in suspense.

The key to solving the case was a ransom note that the perpetrator put in Charlotte’s family’s mailbox in which he left his fingerprints and when they were compared with the database they found that they matched those of Craig Nelson Ross Jr. , who was already arrested in 1999 for driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to New York Governor Kathy Hochu, “after some resistance the suspect was detained and the little girl was immediately located inside a closet.” Hochu added that Charlotte was taken to the hospital and that she was “apparently unharmed and already reunited with her parents.”

On Saturday afternoon, Charlotte, who was at a campsite with her parents, went out for a bike ride alone and when she saw that time was passing and she did not return, her parents went out to look for her.

After her abandoned bicycle was found, the girl’s mother called 911 at 6:45 pm and the next morning the police issued an Amber Alert as there was a high possibility that a kidnapping had occurred.

Around 400 people took part in the search for Charlotte in an area of ??74 kilometers, including police, forest guards and firefighters, in addition to the use of drones and airboats.
