The family of a young man from the IES La Ribera Institute in Palma (Mallorca) broke into an institute last Wednesday to mediate a fight and allegedly ended up attacking one of the young people involved. The events, which have been reported by El Diario de Mallorca, took place during school hours and the students were kept in the classrooms until the arrival of the police.

As sources from the National Police have confirmed to La Vanguardia, the incident began around 12 noon with the fight between two boys between 13 and 14 years old. One of them then decided to notify his relatives by phone, who immediately showed up at the educational center and attacked the other person involved, police sources have explained. The management of the educational center has declined to make any type of statement.

The event would have caused moments of tension and nervousness, so the management team gave the order for the teachers to lock themselves in the classrooms until the arrival of the police. According to Diario de Mallorca, several people had to be treated for an anxiety attack.

It is unknown at the moment if there are any arrests. The Department of Education has also confirmed the event and assures that they are awaiting a meeting with the institute and educational inspection.
