Since they are little, women are forced to live with a series of very strict beauty standards: thinness, smooth, soft and shiny skin, and no wrinkles, body hair or marks such as stretch marks. They grow accustomed to thinking that they must be perfect all the time to please the male gaze, as products of patriarchy.

In recent years, however, thanks to the advances promoted by feminism, women have begun to stop seeing themselves as competitors to help each other, fighting the machismo and aesthetic violence that constantly attacks them. Now more than ever, sorority is very present in society.

A good example of this has been the reaction of the singer Lorena Gómez, who has defended a girl under pressure to lose weight. Gómez became very nervous when she put herself in the young woman’s shoes and moved the entire audience.

“What you’re saying to this girl seems super strong to me. Very strong. Because that’s not done, you know? She’s a woman and among women we have to support each other,” Gómez says while bursting into tears.

The clip is part of the Gente Maravillosa program on Canal Sur, which addresses a topic of social interest in each broadcast. Precisely the intention is to seek the reaction of anonymous people and celebrities to unfair situations through recreations and hidden cameras.
