Toni Espadas, director of the Sabadell Rift-Valley travel agency in the Vallesan city, was murdered in Ethiopia this Monday in an attack that is still being investigated. Espadas, was a Catalan tour guide and photographer specialized in Africa, he was acting as a guide for the filming crew of the program Socios por el Mundo on the historic Chilean Channel 13, at the time of the assault.

As reported by the channel itself through a statement, the rest of the production company MkZeta’s team is fine and are traveling to Johannesburg to return to Chile on Tuesday morning. In turn, they indicate that they have not received the attack from the tribe they were visiting without specifying their name and the exact place of the assault.

From the Chilean media they have expressed their condolences to the family of Toni Espadas, who was known for his specialization in Africa and his work as director of Rift Valley since 2011.

“As Channel 13 we deeply regret Toni’s death, and from a distance, we send his family all our support,” the note reads.

Espadas had visited dozens of African countries, portraying and documenting the lives of many of their people.
