In this series of photographs in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can contemplate the great Saharan octopus suspended in the mass of Montserrat, seen from Monistrol with the Llobregat river in the foreground.
Haze is a meteorological phenomenon that occurs due to the presence of Saharan dust in the atmosphere. It is quite common in the coastal area, although in this case it has moved inland, and usually leaves a landscape of fog and thick cloudiness of a grayish color.
There are two different types of haze. The first, known as type A, occurs when the suspended particles are dust, as in this case. Type B is produced by special events, such as forest fires or other polluting events.
The disappearance of the haze is conditioned by changes in atmospheric pressure, which can give rise to wind or rain.
Monistrol has the Montserrat Rack Railway station and is a very quiet town to take your mind off the busy daily routine. Coming from the south, it is the first town in the Bages region, 15 km from the capital of the region, Manresa.
