The influence of the storms Babet and Aline will leave this Friday locally strong or persistent rainfall in the north of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, intervals of strong wind in much of the territory, bad seas and snowfall in the northwest quadrant, according to the forecast of the State Agency for Meteorology (Aemet).

This adverse situation has caused the agency to activate red, orange or yellow notices in up to 15 autonomous communities and Ceuta. In Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and the Basque Country they will be under red warning (extreme risk) due to coastal phenomena and yellow or orange due to rain and wind; as well as Andalusia, the Balearic Islands and Catalonia, which will have yellow and orange notices.

Aragón, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Region of Murcia, Valencian Community and Ceuta will also be under a yellow or orange warning for the same meteorological phenomena; while the Community of Madrid, Navarra and La Rioja will be under a yellow warning due to strong gusts of wind.

The Aemet predicts abundant rainfall and occasionally accompanied by storms in Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees. There may also be showers with some locally strong storms in Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. With less intensity and probability they may affect other areas of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Little probability in the southwest, Levante and southeastern coasts.

The agency expects a general drop in temperatures throughout the country. This decrease will be locally notable during the daytime in the southeast of the peninsula. Weak frosts are expected in the Pyrenees and separately in other central and northern mountains.

Instability will persist through the weekend. For Saturday, cloudy skies are expected in Galicia and the northeastern half of Catalonia, with precipitation that will decrease throughout the day. In the rest of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, cloudy intervals in general, without ruling out some weak and scattered precipitation. The minimums will go down again.

For Sunday, Aemet predicts the entry of a new Atlantic storm from the southwest. On the Atlantic slope, abundant cloudiness and precipitation is expected to extend towards the north and east and will be abundant in the western third of the peninsula, even locally strong or persistent and with occasional storms in the west of the Central system, Extremadura and Andalusia.
