The recent storm Aline has left its mark in Spain, marking the week with severe storms in several regions. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) points out that, although Aline moves towards the interior of Europe, rainfall will persist, being more notable in Galicia, Cantabria and the Pyrenees. Rain is also expected, although of lesser magnitude, in mountainous areas and dispersed in other regions of the interior of the peninsula, as well as in some parts of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.

Starting on Monday, October 23, a new Atlantic storm will take over, spreading precipitation almost everywhere, especially in the western half of the peninsula and the Pyrenees. It is likely that these precipitations will be locally strong or persistent in the north of Aragon, west of the Central system and around the Strait of Gibraltar. This new meteorological situation will also increase cloudiness in various areas such as the eastern Cantabrian, Ebro valley, northeast, east of the southern plateau and north of Valencia.

The change in storm will also influence temperatures, which will drop on Monday and Tuesday, offering a cooler and more autumnal atmosphere, with thermometers that will read below 20 degrees in many areas of the interior of the peninsula. Some frost is not ruled out in mountain areas. However, temperatures will rise slightly on Wednesday and Thursday, before falling again on Friday.

The westerly wind will predominate in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, being more intense in the north of Galicia, the Cantabrian Sea, the eastern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands. For its part, in the Canary Islands, weak and occasional rainfall is expected in the north of the islands throughout the week.

Therefore, despite the displacement of Storm Aline, Spain will continue to face adverse weather conditions with the arrival of a new Atlantic storm. This scenario forces us to maintain caution, as well as preparation, having umbrellas and raincoats on hand, since rain and wind will continue to be protagonists in the country’s meteorological panorama during this next week.
