The Minister of Education, Anna Simó, has proposed to replace the general director of public centers, a position currently held by Jean Marc Segarra, by the current director of territorial services of Maresme-Vallès Oriental, Simó López i Xirau.

This is the second change for Minister Simó since she took over Educació in June. She then expressed her willingness to maintain the team of the previous councilor, Josep Gonzàlez-Cambray, who appointed all the current general directors. At the end of August Núria Mòra resigned as secretary of Educational Transformation, a newly created secretariat. Simó appointed Ignasi Garcia Plata, who was general director of teaching and staff of public centers between 2015 and 2021.

Simó Lòpez i Xirau, 44 years old, has a degree in Telematic Technical Engineering from the Mataró Polytechnic University School. Previously, he was director of the public school Thos i Codina, in Mataró. In 2021, he was appointed director of the territorial services of Maresme-Vallès Oriental.

The outgoing general director, Jean Marc Segarra, was also appointed in 2021. After his departure from the department, he could occupy another position in the administration. The Department of Exteriors is being considered.
