Many people who live alone often have the habit of talking to their pets; tell them your plans for the day, vent about a problem or express your love just as you would do with another human.

The practice, perhaps seen as a rarity for those who do not have pets at home, is increasingly common and has the approval of science. A study revealed that communication with animals contributes to emotional intelligence and the ability to express oneself, as well as benefits pets as well.

A professor of Behavioral Sciences at the University of Chicago, Nicholas Epley studied anthropomorphism, which is attributing human characteristics and qualities to animals.

Nicholas published in his book Mindwise that talking to dogs as if they were humans, applying anthropomorphism to your life makes the human species more intelligent.

The human brain has the tendency to try to communicate with any being out of inertia, due to the empathy it has when trying to generate links.

Despite knowing that animals will not respond, dogs evolved and have a certain way of communicating with people.

The relationship that can be established with an animal is due to the love and affection that one feels with them. These feelings make one try to talk to them and communicate, being a reflection of an evolution in intelligence.

When trying to talk to a dog, one applies a method of organizing the head before communicating, which generates benefits on a psychological level and allows one to learn to express emotions.

In certain cases, a human is more likely to talk to their pet if they are emotionally unwell than to talk to a friend or family member.

The benefits of communicating with a pet are not only for the person, but also for the dog, which needs attention and company. Talking to them is positive and can prevent their stress, anxiety and behavioral problems.

People who interact and talk with their dogs have a closer bond and are happier. A relationship full of love, attention and affection will make it reciprocal and make you feel part of the family.

The evolution of dogs allowed them to process our way of speaking and recognize words or gestures. Scientifically, it is still not possible to ensure the total understanding capacity, but it can be assured that they can understand parts of what we tell them.

Your dog can probably understand you if you communicate with him, even in parts or certain words. So don’t be ashamed to communicate with your dog because it is not only beneficial for him, but for your emotional intelligence as well.
