The National Police has arrested a Belgian citizen allegedly linked to drug trafficking networks who was carrying a rifle and ammunition hidden in his luggage after being surprised at the Méndez Álvaro south bus station in Madrid, police sources have informed Europa Press.

According to Cadena Ser, he was hiding in his luggage a 7.62 caliber model G-3 assault rifle, as well as three magazines and a bag with projectiles along with a 9 caliber pistol and three bulletproof vests.

Police sources consulted by Europa Press have indicated that he was surprised when he allegedly intended to travel to France. Regarding the detainee, 25 years old, there is a claim order from Belgium for crimes of robbery, homicide and kidnapping.

The arrest occurred yesterday afternoon at a checkpoint of the Mobile Brigade of the National Police in the south station of the capital, according to the aforementioned sources.
