Next to the Adif train station in Girona we can find two very large frogs that welcome (or say goodbye, depending on how you look at it) travelers, as seen in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

It is a sculptural group by Ramon Maria Carrera Savall, who continued his father, Joan Carrera Dellunder, in artistic and pedagogical work.

In this exhibition of public art that draws attention to the type of characters chosen (frogs) and their location, the artist demonstrates technical and creative versatility, especially if we take into account his other references, such as the colossal figure The Angel of the cathedral (1968).

On this occasion, with this set, he created these two iron frogs for the Central Park of Girona. Both animals appear with their mouths and eyes wide open.

The work was inaugurated in October 1990. In fact, on the iron skin of the two frogs you can see the author’s initials and also the date (RC 90).
