The UGT-PV union, the majority at the Ford Valencia plant, assures that the company is considering postponing its electrification as well as any investment related to it. “This situation puts us on the line,” the union said in a statement, after its meeting these last two days with the director of operations of Ford Motor Company and his management team.

In response to this position of the staff, Ford Spain assures La Vanguardia that “as the market and our customers make the transition to electric vehicles, we will balance volume with demand while maintaining a focus on costs”, but they do not make any no further confirmation in this regard.

The union, which has scheduled an upcoming meeting in December with the management of the Detroit-based company, asks the company to guarantee the necessary workload to maintain the workforce while it reassesses its positions. They ask, to be more specific, that they promote hybrid vehicles: “As long as this question is not resolved, our position will remain unchanged,” maintains the UGT-PV statement.

The union has added that the company “will have to guarantee a review date for the Electrification Plan during this transition process that is now lengthening. Otherwise, the company will not be able to negotiate more flexibility measures, at least with the UGT.” .
